Matthew’s first band was indie-rock power-trio, Ventral, who signed to London label Seriously Groovy. After the release of their debut album Strap Atom, likened to ‘… Therapy? with Mark from The Levellers on vocals … snarling, angry and dynamic …’, the band split up but Matthew continued writing and playing. A decade later, he formed another band with much more laid-back songs written on acoustic guitar, sounding – according to one reviewer – like ‘… a blend of Nick Drake and The Waterboys …’.
No More Navigators recorded their debut EP Home with producer Charlie Hugall (Florence & The Machine, Kaiser Chiefs, Razorlight) of Black Math Music and shot a video for their single Two Minus One (directed by Bob Blunden [Kid Carpet, Duck Children, Pool Shark]). The band signed a distribution deal with Tactal Hots Music and released Home along with their second video, She Wore Black (directed by Carlo Ortu of Sugarspun Pictures), while working on new songs, recordings and remixes.
